Good real estate photography talks to buyers on an emotional level. It’s less about describing your home, more about seduction... If the buyer falls in love with the house they will care less about market value, and in love, first impressions can make all the difference.

Gethin Coles has been providing real estate photography exclusively for Guy Saddleton Real Estate for the last seven years. The aim was to raise the bar on real estate photography and presentation, focusing on producing high quality evocative images that would make the buyer want to find out more. He used his extensive photographic and retouching experience to produce a signature style that was both immediately recognisable and showed the properties in their best light. He is now working further afield, as well as now supplying Warren Weick Real Estate. Warren and Guy have different markets, and Gethin uses a different style for each.
This mini site will give you an overview of why good quality photography is the start of any real estate promotion, how to prepare for it and what the process involves.
Gethin Coles has been photographing for 30 years; professionally for 12 years. He has a degree in film and video and worked as a freelance cameraman - using both 16 and 35mm film and video - in London before moving to Australia in 2001. He has been specialising in Architectural and Real Estate photography since then. He has wide knowledge of the photographic process - covering film formats from 35 mm through to 6x7 roll fim, and as a lighting cameraman and occasional "gaffer" experince with controlling and lighting a scene. He has extensive experience with digital technology - both in SLR cameras (he uses Canon Cameras and lenses) - and with computer technology. This means digital photo manipulation and retouching using the industry standard - Adobe photoshop. In fact his photoshop experience dates back to 1995. This enables him to control the light and enhance the mood of a scene - but to bring out the best of what the lens sees - without overtly (and illegally!!) distorting or manipulating the truth of a scene.
